If you want to work on a cruise ship go as Youth staff or sports staff you make less but its more fun than staying inside on deck 12. having endless meetings about how you suck at your job ( retail wise).

I just got done working for Steiner/Mandra Spa…. and there is a lot of two faced bullshit you have to deal with.. I wish i went to the Harding Brothers aka The OnBoardSpa Company. I hear a lot of Great thing about OnBoardSpa as well and all of the things i heard comes from people who work for steiner or who has worked for steiner.

i’ve heard a lot of bad stories about steiner as well. the best company to go for is onboard spa, ma friend is working for them n she says they r brilliant, they pay u a salary as well as comission
June 22nd, 2009 at 3:58 am

I was wondering as well..what a money??? I do not believe it.
June 22nd, 2009 at 3:58 am
This is funny because its such a lie.For some, Steiner is a dream but for me, hu-uh a nightmare!10 massages a day, manager from hell, retail training at 10pm,staying onboard on your precious days off for meetings,7% commission off your earnings!ridiculous targets,i was transferred for the wrong position!working on a cruise ships is amazing but not with Steiner, they sell you a dream thats not there, dont be fooled!
June 22nd, 2009 at 3:58 am
Steiner, day light robbery, all they want is to take your money not to pay you. Is all about money for them. A spa transformed in to constant push to sell retail. You have to pay more money than you actually earn to get the job. Make sure you read your contract well before you’ll sign and don’t get fooled by a bunch idiots they will take advantages of you.

But like i said ship life is the best and so is travelling the world with all your new friends…but it a desicion you have to weigh up…wether you can deal with all the shit…for a memory of a lifetime that you will never ever forget!!!!
June 22nd, 2009 at 3:58 am
..dont forget you always have a nasty ass manager shouting at you constantly to make more money, even if you make money and the team dosent you stil get shouted at….plus if you dont push yourself to death then you dont get paid properly…..this girl makes me laugh with her 7-8 thou a cruise?!?…i dont know how much they paid her to say that but its not true…the pay is shit for the dog hours you work!!
June 22nd, 2009 at 3:58 am
THIS MSG IS FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO WORK ON A CRUISE SHIP!!!….Everything abouts ships is great apart from the work!!!Even though i love my line of work in Beauty….they make you work 11 hours a day and thats only if a fleet operations manager is on…wheer you could do a 13-14 hour day which includes a port clean of the whole spa as well as a meeting after where the managers just basically talk about themselves and their lives on ships!!!
June 22nd, 2009 at 3:58 am
paahahahaa….$7000-$8000 a 12 day cruise?!?!….dont make me laugh!!
June 22nd, 2009 at 3:58 am
Still it’s a lot of fun to work at sea! I think I’ll be doing those cruises too on Diamond Princess — LOOKING FORWARD!!!
June 22nd, 2009 at 3:58 am
Between 7 or 8 thousand a (12 day) cruise???!!! … 3 time less than that — a month!
Don’t tell stories!
June 22nd, 2009 at 3:58 am
Im getting ready to go to traing in Hawaii to work as a massage thereapist. Is there anything I need to be worried about? How is the money?
June 22nd, 2009 at 3:58 am
Steiner might be bastards but they are totally upfront with you from the beginning so if you think you are going on one big holiday your not, its your job and you can make great money at it if youv’e got the get up and go to carry it off and youll meet friends that you’ll never forget
June 22nd, 2009 at 3:58 am
on most ships u can add the tip to your ship’s account or give them cash. it’s also welcome in the spa!
normal tip is around 15-20%.
have a fantastic cruise!!!
June 22nd, 2009 at 3:58 am
for us that are new to cruising, we are told not to bring cash .. and also, we are told that the tips can come from the credit established. is this true? how do the spa workers get their tips if cash is not to be used onboard? I would like to be able to tip properly.
June 22nd, 2009 at 3:58 am
how do i get a joB??
June 22nd, 2009 at 3:58 am
Steiners work their asses off. Crazy hours, and it’s mostly a thankless job, because guests don’t typically tip well, if at all. Yes, product sales are a must if you want to go above and beyond, and make some extra cash.
